Tasha Reynolds

Tasha Reynolds was a Portland mother and member of the city’s medical mama support network. Her son, Noah Reynolds, was autistic, had an intellectual disability and epilepsy, and communicated without speech using AAC. He was about twenty when Tasha helped Jess Ross prepare for her March 2038 move from Portland to Baltimore.

Tasha belonged to a support network with Jess, Marisa Garcia, Leah Whitaker, and Rina Patel. The group became chosen family for her: the other mothers understood the work of medical and disability care without needing every routine explained. They used text chains, video calls, and occasional in-person gatherings to share information and resources and to coordinate support during hospitalizations and other crises.

Support for the Ross Family Move

Between late 2037 and early March 2038, Tasha participated in the network’s support for Jess and Caleb Ross. She supported Jess’s decision without judgment. The group coordinated fundraising, moving logistics, and emotional support before Jess and Caleb relocated to Baltimore.

Through Noah’s childhood and young adulthood, Tasha learned to recognize his seizure patterns, managed his medication schedule and breakthrough episodes, and identified sensory triggers. She supported his communication and regulation, coordinated with his schools and therapists, and advocated for IEP accommodations rather than punishment for disability-related needs.

Tasha loved Noah fiercely and wanted him to have the support and autonomy he needed. The work also carried a cost for her: watching for seizures and repeatedly advocating across medical and school systems left her hypervigilant and exhausted at times.
